BJP manifesto a bundle of lies, says Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru: Coming down heavily on the BJP's poll manifesto which was launched on Monday, Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah on Monday termed it a “bundle of lies” and charged that Prime Minister Narendara Modi's five-year term at the Centre saw only the handing out of sops to his capitalist friends while the Congress party wherever it is in power, is busy wiping the tears of the poor.
Kickstarting his campaign rally for Bangalore Central candidate, Rizwan Arshad here, Mr Siddaramaiah said, “Mr Modi is equally responsible for allowing the corrupt and his industrialist friends to loot and scoot from the country. His term in power has brought smiles to the rich man's face and tears to the poor. On the other hand, the waiving of farmer loans in Karnataka and the launch of several Bhagyas are enough to prove that the Congress is busy helping the poor.”
Terming the BJP manifesto as a bundle of lies, Mr Siddaramaiah wondered what was new in the manifesto? “Be it Ram Mandir or the common civil code, they all have been their agenda ever since the BJP was formed 30 years ago. Theirs is nothing but a bundle of lies,” he said. Training his guns on state level BJP leaders, Mr Siddaramaiah quipped that of late, those who looted the state are prefixing ‘chowkidar’ to their names. “This is nothing but an insult to honest chowkidars who toil day and night for a menial salary. Be it BJP state president, B.S. Yeddyurappa, BJP national president, Amit Shah, BJP leaders like Katta Subramanya Naidu and many leaders who have been to jail for committing crimes, they are prefixing chowkidar to their name. I think this is one of the worst insults for honest chowkidars,” he contended.
