DMK manifesto to be out on Sunday
Chennai: The seat allocation process in the DMK alliance continued on Friday with the party specifying the seats for smaller allies Puthiya Thamizhagam and Indian Union Muslim League.
DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin who participated in seat-sharing talks also launched the party’s poll campaign in R.K. Nagar, where Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa is contesting. He distributed pamphlets in CG Colony and canvassed votes for the DMK.
Stalin, who spoke about the party’s seat sharing arrangements earlier at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam, said the talks were cordial. He also announced that the DMK manifesto would be released on April 10.
DMK’s major ally, the Congress too began preparations to draft the election manifesto for the forthcoming Assembly elections. The party formed an election manifesto committee headed by senior leader M. Sudarshana Nachiappan. The key members of the committee are U. Balaraman, Manick Tagore, A. Gopanna, C.R. Kesavan and K. Selvaperundhagai.
The DMK has given 58 seats to allies and the seats for the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi and three smaller parties will be identified soon. The seat sharing process in the DMK alliance will be completed in one or two days and the party’s candidates list is likely to announced next week.
