Fruit should not fall in poisoned milk: Vaiko
Chennai: People’s Welfare Alliance convener and MDMK leader Vaiko on Tuesday said people expect the DMDK will not join the “corrupt” alliance of DMK.
“People expect the fruit not to fall in milk poisoned with corruption”, Vaiko said in reply to DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s statement comparing his party’s talks with DMDK to a ripening of fruit. In his usual cryptic response, Mr Karunanidhi, to a query on the status of talks with DMDK, said, “The fruit is ripening. When it will fall into the milk is yet to be decided.”
After launching the PWA’s website and social media pages along with CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan, CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan and VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan, Mr Vaiko said that DMDK has denied only the reports of its alliance with DMK and to contest in 59 seats. “DMDK leader Chandrakumar has dismissed only the rumours that it had joined DMK alliance and to contest in 59 seats.
At the same time, it is well known that leaders of PWA met Mr Vijayakanth and held talks,” he said to a query that DMDK has denied holding alliance talks with any party.
When asked whether they would change their stand on chief minister candidate if DMDK join hands with them, he said that in war front, the strategy could be revised at any time. “We cannot say it now,” he said. On the election manifesto, he said that it would be based on the common minimum programme released by us. “After the releasing of the manifesto, we will launch our fourth phase of the election campaign,” he said.
The official website www.makkalnalan.in has components of leaders’ statements, public meetings and campaign schedule, besides media clippings. Visitors are also encouraged to comment on the parties’ common minimum programme released in December last year.
