Hebbal by-poll: BJP pulls out all stops to retain crucial seat

Former minister Katta Subramannya Naidu has taken campaign seriously and is trying to get support for BJP candidate Narayanaswamy.

Bengaluru: Leaders of the state unit of BJP are pulling all the stops to retain Hebbal Assembly constituency with top leaders including former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa scheduled to address a rally on Tuesday.

Mr Vijaykumar, MLA of Jayanagar constituency, who is in-charge of the constituency, told Deccan Chronicle that the party has focused on development work executed in Hebbal constituency when former minister Katta Subramannya Naidu and his late successor Jagadish Kumar represented the constituency.

“We have been requesting all voters to vote for BJP. Mr. Katta Subramanya Naidu and Jagadish Kumar have done good work in the constituency. Even voters have acknowledged it when we approached them during the campaign”, Mr. Vijaykumar added

Former minister Katta Subramannya Naidu has taken the campaign seriously and has been doing his bit to drum up support for BJP candidate Narayanaswamy.

Mr Katta Jagadish, son of former minister Katta Subramannya Naidu, said the party has confidence that it would retain the seat.

“Though the ruling party has advantage in all by-elections, voters of Hebbal will vote for us because they still recall development work done by my father and late Mr Jagadish Kumar", noted Katta.

"For personal reasons, my father has refused to contest in be elections, when the party offered him the ticket. Since cases are pending before the court, it takes time for us to settle down", he said.

"That’s why we requested the state leadership not to give us the ticket. Since the party has given positions to my father, it is our turn to do our best for the party by ensuring the victory of Mr Narayanswamy. We are not worried about the political future. The party will decide the future of my father,” Mr. Katta added.
