MP's daughter Swetha resigns from TD, exits from corporator post

Kesineni Swetha, daughter of MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), resigns from the party, citing humiliation and lack of acknowledgment

Vijayawada: In a blow to the Telugu Desam, the tug of war between brothers MP Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani and Kesineni Chinni has intensified. Following her father Kesineni Nani’s footsteps, TD corporator Kesineni Swetha quit the post and party membership.

Speculations are rife about Nani joining the YSRC, BJP or the Jana Sena to contest from Vijayawada in the Parliament polls. Nani clarified that he will take a decision after meeting his supporters.

Swetha submitted her resignation along with former deputy mayor G.V. Ramana Rao and others to Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi. Earlier, Swetha met with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao and former Krishna ZP chairperson Gadde Anuradha here.

After the meeting, Swetha drove to the VMC office and submitted her resignation to the mayor.

Swetha told the media that some of the party leaders have been humiliating her father for long. She said, “TD is not willing to avail our services. It is meaningless for us to continue in the party. After my father resigns his MP post, we will take a decision. Kesineni Nani and I will fight things out,” she said.

She claimed, “TD has no candidate to contest the Parliament polls not only in Vijayawada but also in the surrounding LS constituencies. We never thought of leaving the party, but the TD leadership doesn’t want our services. So, we are leaving the party.”
