Need fourth political force: Adagur H Vishwanath

Vishwanath's remarks come in the backdrop of the preliminary meeting before the protest against demonetisation in Mysuru.

Mysuru: Senior Congress leader and former MP Adagur H. Vishwanath said that there was a need for strengthening a fourth alternative political force in the state.

He was speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday. He said, "BJP, JD(S) and Congress have failed to retain the confidence of people of the State. Hence the need has arisen for building a fourth alternative political force, with a new philosophy and principles. In the 1950s and 1960s, regional parties were formed as an alternative to the Congress party. With family politics, corruption and groupism dominating, all parties are facing a threat to their existence. The contributions of Congress workers must be recognised and they should be given due recognition in Boards and corporations, or else they will not back the MLAs," Mr Vishwanath said.

Mr Vishwanath’s remarks come in the backdrop of the preliminary meeting before the protest against demonetisation in Mysuru on Monday last which witnessed commotion in the presence of AICC observer Jaththi Kusum Kumar and KPCC observer MLC Narasanswamy . The Congress workers were upset that party MLAs and chairpersons of various boards and commissions did not turn up for the meeting. They also alleged that sincere party workers were ignored and were not given their due in the appointment of chairpersons of various state-run boards and corporations. Mr Vishwanath who was present at the meeting, pacified them. He has been in the news for his frequent criticism of the Siddaramaiah government.
