Siddu observes poll result of one state will not have impact on others

BENGALURU: “The poll result of one State will not have its impact over the poll prospects of another State,” observed Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after poll results started to emerge in both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls on Thursday.

Siddaramaiah exuded confidence that Congress will come back to power in Karnataka in the 2023 elections and stated, “No strategy needs to be done to win polls here. Congress party will win by simply facing the election.” Karnataka would go for polls in April/May next year and the State Government is headed by BJP.

Observing that poll results of Gujarat in which ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the single largest party winning about 155 seats to retain power in that State, Siddaramaiah said the Gujarat poll results will not have impact over the State since the ruling BJP government in the State is the “most corrupt” while the main opposition party the Congress party’s organisation is strong enough to take on BJP.

In Karnataka, he observed the issues of the State are different from other States besides the ruling BJP is faced with an “anti-incumbency” factor. In the State, the Congress leader observed that issues such as bad governance, corruption and dormant attitude of the State Government are chief factors.

“Had anyone alleged a 40 per cent commission against the Gujarat government? But, in Karnataka, no works get done without paying commission of 40 per cent,” he alleged.

Over the Prime Minister Narendra Modi reported wave in the State, Siddaramaiah pointed at the Delhi Municipality poll results in which Aam Aadmi Party candidates romped home winning 135 seats while BJP won in 104 seats.

Ruling out the Modi wave in the State, Siddaramaiah said, “When there is no (Modi) wave in Delhi where he lives, will there be a Modi wave here?.”
