KCR set to open new buildings for 8 district collectorates

Eight new integrated collectorate complexes in districts being constructed at a cost of Rs 50-Rs 60 cr each are all set for inauguration

Hyderabad: Eight brand new integrated collectorate complexes in districts being constructed at a cost of Rs 50-Rs 60 crore each are all set for inauguration by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao very soon.

The CM has decided to build integrated collectorate complexes in all district headquarters with the objective to make government services more accessible to citizens besides giving a boost to infrastructure development in new districts.

The highlight of the new collectorate complexes is that they house not just collector offices but also SP offices and head offices of all departments in districts under one roof making it easier for the public to avail all government services at a single point.

People need not run from pillar to post to get their works done as all government offices are located in the same complex. The CM is planning to visit districts soon after MLC poll code ends on December 16.

The eight district complexes that are ready for inauguration include Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy, Vikarabad, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Nizamabad and Jangaon. The CM has already inaugurated new collectorate complexes in Warangal, Siddipet, Kamareddy and Rajanna-Sircilla districts in June and July this year.

The CM wanted to inaugurate all the new collectorate complexes by visiting districts one after the other from August but the election codes which came into force due to subsequent elections in Huzurabad, MLC polls under MLAs quota and MLC polls under local bodies have halted the plans.

Speaking to this newspaper, the minister for roads and buildings Vemula Prashanth Reddy said, “Chief Minister KCR garu has brought several landmark administrative reforms in Telangana soon after formation of state in June 2014. He has increased districts from 10 to 33 in 2016 with a view to make government services more accessible to people. Besides, the government offices in district headquarters earlier used to be scattered around making it difficult for public to visit offices on various works. The integrated complexes will house all government offices under one roof making it easier for people to avail government services besides saving their time and money. This is a unique concept which is not there anywhere in the country.” Soon after increasing districts in 2016, the CM has taken up construction of 25 integrated complexes at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore.
