Section of RSS vexed with leaders like La Ganesan

Chennai: A section of the RSS leadership in the State is indignant over the cancellation of the ‘Vijaya Dasami’ procession due to the unacceptable restrictions of the government and blamed the ‘treachery’ of veteran leaders like West Bengal and Manipur Governor La Ganesan and former Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan for the ‘humiliation.’

A senior leader of the RSS, Kovi S V Sreedhar, from Coimbatore put out an audio message to the RSS members on Saturday, naming the two leaders, who had held prominent positions within the organization in the past, as among those responsible for their inability to take out the procession on Sunday.

Sreedhar said that 45 years ago, when the RSS and the BJP were not that popular and not a force to reckon with in the State, the dedication and hard work of a few pracharaks had ensured that the processions, with the participants holding the ‘thanda,’ the customary stick that the pracharaks use in their drills, had been held with absolute ease.

Several leaders, now holding top positions in the country, had also been invited to those events and honoured, he recalled.

But now, it was tragic that the procession had to be cancelled despite the BJP holding the reins of the Union Government and in many other States with a supportive Governor occupying the Raj Bhavan, he said.

Apart from all that, Ganesan, a full-time RSS worker and veteran leader from Tamil Nadu, having his house at Mambalam in Chennai, was now the Governor in two States, including West Bengal, but could not prevail upon Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, despite his proximity, to allow the RSS procession, he alleged.

The senior RSS leader referred to Ganesan inviting Stalin, Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, and DMK MP T R Baalu to the 80th birthday celebrations of his brother, who had nothing to do with any Hindutva organization, and wondered why he could not speak to Stalin about the RSS and its glory.

He took a caustic swipe at Stalin as one determined not to let the BJP set foot in Tamil Nadu, Banerjee as one giving an Indian identity to people from Bangladesh and promoting them and Baalu as one petitioning the President to recall the Governor and asked why could Ganesan not utilize his friendship with them to help the RSS.

Raising the question if Ganesan’s friendship with such persons was only meant for personal gratification and not getting things done for the RSS, Sreedhr accused Ganesan and the other senior RSS leader from the State, Shanmuganathan, of plotting to throw out important functionaries from the organization.

Asking pracharaks to usher in a sense of true Hindu feelings in the State by coming out of the ‘fraud’ politics that was on play, he identified BJP State President K Annamalai as the only leader with some verve and enthusiasm and warned of attempts to throw him out, too,
