Chennai: The DMDK is confident of getting its choice of seats in the local body elections from the major partner, ruling AIADMK, said party treasurer Premalatha.
Addressing reporters after a meeting of the party executive at the DMDK headquarters here on Thursday, Premalatha claimed that the AIADMK leadership had already conceded to the number of seats the DMDK had demanded. “They have agreed to give us the seats we asked for”, she said.
In the same breath, however, she also said that “everyone, including the AIADMK leadership” now knew the strength of her party after the impressive show (by the AIADMK candidate) at the recent Vikravandi Assembly by-election.
“Captain (Vijayakanth) went there to canvass for just one day and see how the fortune of the AIADMK candidate tilted so quickly in his favour! That shows really the DMDK strength and everyone knows that, even the AIADMK leadership”, said Premalatha, seated next to her husband Vijayakanth, who kept beaming happily and with beaming pride.
