DMK ready to hold all-party meet

After the Supreme Court itself had ordered the formation of CMB, the centre is refusing to follow the order.

Chennai: Flaying the BJP government at the Centre for its stand against the formation of Cauvery Management Board, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Friday announced that his party would convene an all-party meeting if the state government did not do so in one or two days.

Leading a hunger strike at Thanjavur condemning the Union government, the Leader of Opposition said, “The Centre’s argument that the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal’s order to form the CMB is only a suggestion and it is up to the centre to accept or reject it is shocking. The centre’s stand is atrocious and dangerous since the new contention will snatch away the rights of Tamil Nadu”.
Quoting the tribunal order, he said, “Inter-state forum to be called Cauvery Management Board shall be established” and added that CMB is mandatory as per the tribunal order.

After the Supreme Court itself had ordered the formation of CMB, the centre is refusing to follow the order. Accusing the Union government of ignoring Tamil Nadu farmers, he said the betrayal would not be forgotten and forgiven.
“It is shameful that MPs from Tamil Nadu are not able to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi even under an emergency situation”.

Deputy Speaker M. Thambidurai, who led the AIADMK MPs was not allowed to meet the Prime Minister, he said and added that the AIADMK ministers should have resigned, immediately after Modi’s refusal to meet them.

If the AIADMK government did not convene the all-party meeting in one or two days, the DMK would convene it. The party is also ready to take an all party
delegation to meet the Prime Minister and if necessary President Pranab Mukherjee, he said.
