YV Subba Reddy meets ASR leaders on MLC polls

VISHAKAPATNAM: Regional coordinator of the YSRC and TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy held a meeting with the party leaders of Alluri Sitarama Raju district on the MLC elections at Araku Valley on Wednesday.

Official nominee of north Andhra Graduates constituency and chairman of Brahmin Corporation Seetharaju Sudhakar was also present in the meeting.

“The meeting was to introduce Sudhakar to the Araku MP Gotteti Madhavi, Araku MLA Chetty Palguna and Paderu MLA K. Bhagyalakshmi and other senior leaders of the party. All the three were present in the meeting,’’ said a senior party leader.

The Agency people have voted for YSRC in 2014 and 2019 polls, electing MLAs of both Araku and Paderu Assembly constituencies.

Many expected that second-rung leaders would raise the issue of growing resentment against the MLAs but the regional coordinator did not give any chance, the senior leader said.

The graduate constituency -Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam - has around 1.7 lakh graduate voters, of which 1.17 lakh voters franchised their votes in the 2017 elections. But the enrolment of voters of graduates’ constituencies would take place before every election. The term of the present BJP MLC P.V.N. Madhav would be over by March of 2023.

Interestingly, Sudhakar depends on the votes of his community, who are present in good numbers in urban areas of north Andhra. For this reason, he sought nomination from the Visakhapatnam South constituency, which was earlier represented by Dronam Raju Satyanarayana and his son Dronamraju Srinivas, the community stalwarts.
