Hyderabad: The Congress has accused the BRS and its ally AIMIM of misusing the Monsoon Session of the Legislative Assembly to deceive the minority communities ahead of the elections.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi had been engaging in a "question-answer drama" to falsely claim their commitment to minority welfare, said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) minorities department chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail.
In a media statement, Sohail said that Owaisi had been repeating his questions for the nine years, while Chandrashekar Rao had responded with empty assurances and false promises, without addressing the real issues that the minorities faced.
Sohai said there was no action on the promise of shifting of the Chanchalguda jail and race course from the Old City to develop those areas as educational hubs. The CM’s recent promise to release funds for minorities student scholarships and other schemes were an acknowledgement that money had been withheld in the past.
The CM’s announcement of an IT Park near Pahadi Sharif came with many riders and involved very long process like the formation of a committee, identification of Wakf land, etc. This was a tactic to woo MIM voters, he said. However, the process could not be completed in six months.
The Congress leader condemned IT minister K.T. Rama Rao for allegedly misleading the family members of Syed Saifuddin, who was killed on a Mumbai train when a RPF constable opened fire. He said Rama Rao had promised the wife of Saifuddin a government job but what she eventually got was an outsourcing one did not address the real concerns of the family. Further, the job was offered at the Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA), which is a registered society and not a government department.
