Jagan’s uncle returns as TTD chairman
TIRUPATI: The state government has once again appointed former MP Y.V. Subba Reddy as Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board. The government issued a GO making the appointment on Sunday, while other trustees would be appointed shortly. Subba Reddy is the uncle of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The former MP had served as TTD chairman for a two-year term till June 22. The tenure of the other trustees under the TTD Board also ended on the same day. A day later, the government appointed a 'Specified Authority’ with TTD EO Dr K.S. Jawahar Reddy as chairman and additional EO A.V. Dharma Reddy as convener, in place of the full-fledged trust board, to manage the affairs of TTD.
It may be noted that after the end of the previous board’s tenure, names of some senior leaders of YSR Congress and business personalities did the rounds for the coveted TTD chairman post. Speculation was rife that Subba Reddy would either be sent to the Rajya Sabha next year or be made an MLC and accommodated in the state Cabinet.
According to party sources, the Chief Minister has once again relied on his uncle, Subba Reddy, who is likely to take charge this week.
