Congress to mobilise one lakh for ‘dandora’ today
ADILABAD: The stage is set for the ‘Dalit Girijana Atma Gourava Dandora’ to be held in Indravelli on Monday.
Congress leaders are striving hard to mobilise one lakh people for the meeting as Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy announced earlier.
Adivasis say that the Congress is hijacking the International Adivasi Day celebrations by organising the meeting on the same day and that too near the historical Indravelli martyrs’ memorial.
Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna criticised the Congress for organising the meeting at the Indravelli martyrs’ memorial and said it was the Congress which killed the Adivasis in the police firing on April 20, 1981.
According to sources, Revanth Reddy selected August 9 for organising the ‘Dalit Girijana Atma Gourava Dandora’ in Indravelli since he considers 9 as his lucky number.
Participating in a protest against hiked petrol and diesel prices in Nirmal town on July 12, Revanth Reddy claimed that his lucky number was 9 whereas TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s lucky number was 6 and he was going to reverse the number so that 6 would become 9 in the coming days.
Elaborate arrangements are being made for the meeting and party leaders are overseeing the arrangements including vehicle parking, meals, stage and public gathering. Former MLC Premsagar Rao is trying his best with the support of his followers to make the event successful.
Congress leaders Seethakka, Dommeti Sambaiah, Premsagar Rao, Maheshkumar Goud, Vemnarender Reddy, Sohail, Mallu Ravi, Ramulu Naik, Balaram Naik and Gandrath Sujatha and others were present.
