Details of encroachments to be compiled
Thiruvananthapuram: The government on Wednesday decided to compile complete and comprehensive details of the encroachments in Idukki district including Munnar area.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting. The following details will be collected; total government land encroached in the district, plots given for agriculture and housing purpose with the condition that it should not be transferred for 12 years which were purchased as clusters, land used for purpose other than what it was assigned for, violation of the provisions of title deed and structures which do not possess permission for construction activities or no objection certificate based on the High Court verdict of January 21, 2010.
The Collector has been asked to compile the details of unauthorised land in Idukki district including Wagamon and submit a detailed list to the government.The five-member committee which was constituted earlier to examine the pattayams which were categorised as illegal and Raveedran pattayams, has been asked to complete the evaluation in a time-bound manner. The panel has been asked to finish the task within three months.
The cases which were pending before Munnar tribunal, which has now ceased to function, will be sent back to the courts from where these cases were originally transferred. The Cabinet has recommended Governor to promulgate an ordinance to facilitate the transfer of these cases.
The local self government department has been asked to make amendments to the rules pertaining to building permit to check violation of pattayam provisions in future. The building permit will be issued only on the basis of certificate issued by village officer specifying for which purpose the pattayam has been issued.
The local self government department has been directed to make all construction activities in Munnar area environmental friendly and the bulk of the power requirement in the area should be met through solar power. Solar panels will be installed extensively in the area. A town planning scheme will be formulated for areas barring Vattavada and Chinnakanal sectors and it will comprise of water reservoir and waste disposal plant.
