Two MLAs flip in favour of TTV Dhinakaran

Bose said that earlier he was reluctant to accept the agricultural wing joint secretary post due to health reasons.

Madurai: At least two MLAs who spurned the party posts offered to them by AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran, made a u-turn on Monday.

Thiruparankundram MLA, Mr A.K. Bose said that Dhinakaran was made as the deputy general secretary by ‘Chinnaamma’, V.K. Sasikala to lead them in her absence. “Dhinakaran is moving in the right direction and strengthening the party to face the forthcoming parliamentary election,” he told AIADMK-affiliated channel ‘Jaya TV’.

Alleging that media has misrepresented his statement, Bose said that earlier he was reluctant to accept the agricultural wing joint secretary post due to health reasons.

“Now I have accepted the post and will be meeting Dhinakaran in Chennai on Thursday,” he said adding, he was also involved in preparing for a meeting scheduled at Melur from where Dhinakaran would begin his state wide tour on August 14.

He announced this after former Melur MLA R. Samy, who was appointed as one of the party organising secretaries by TTV Dhinakaran, had met Bose at his residence here on Monday morning.

Similarly, Periyakulam MLA K Kathirkamu, who initially refused to accept the health wing joint secretary post, clarified that he would take a final decision after his meeting with Dhinakaran on Wednesday. “As I underwent bypass surgery recently, I am prepared to confine my work to serving the people in my constituency,” he said.

However, if Dhinakaran wants him to take up the responsibility, he would accept it because he was his master, the MLA said. Kathirkamu announced this to media persons on Sunday evening after AIADMK (Amma) Theni district union secretary Annaprakash and other party functionaries met him at his residence.

Meanwhile, State Revenue minister, Mr. R. B. Udhayakumar, who stated Dhinakaran has no locus standi to appoint party functionaries, met Samy, a staunch TTV loyalist, at his office on Sunday evening. The minister had a two-hour discussion with him, DC has reliably learnt.
