Kakinada: The state government is preparing to hold civic body elections such as municipalities and municipal corporations that have not been held for years together.

The government issued instructions to the officials to prepare for holding elections and number of personnel required for the purpose. The KMC officials submitted a report to the government that nearly 1,400 personnel are required for holding elections in 50 divisions and nearly 250 EVMs also are required.

However, the government has not taken a decision on delimitation of the divisions in Kakinada and Kakinada Rural mandal. Three villages such as Swamy Nagar, Teachers Colony and S. Achutapuram villages have been merged in Kakinada city and elections have to be conducted in Kakinada including these three villages.

“We have written three or four times to the government about delimitation process. But, till now the government has not  given any instructions to the KMC” said an official of KMC.

Meanwhile, the revenue department is exercising the voter list for making, deleting and inclusions of the voters for KMC elections. The teams are going from house to house and checking the voter lists. It is said that the Smart Pulse Survey has created hurdles in the work. Many of the employees are engaging in SPS work.

“The revenue department can submit its fresh voters’ list by the end of August, after completing the  Krishna Pushkaralu,” said the official.

Meanwhile, the TD was engaged in enrolment of voters by gathering names. The party is paying attention on new voters to attract them to the party. Leaders say the CM was concentrating on providing a bright future to youth and the leaders say that the youth should make use of the services by encouraging the party leadership.
