Sanction pattas to podu farmers: Seethakka

WARANGAL: Mulugu MLA Seethakka urged the minister for municipal administration and urban development K.T. Rama Rao to sanction pattas for podu lands being cultivated by adivasi and tribal people.

The MLA submitted a representation to the minister during the latter's visit to Mulugu district on Wednesday.

Seethakka urged Rama Rao to take up the construction works of the canal immediately from Ramappa to Laknavaram Lake for supplying Godavari River water to the Mulugu region and fill all the lakes present in the district by establishing a lifting system in the Godavari.

She sought the early completion of construction works of the medical college to start the classes in the tribal university. Seethakka urged him to announce Mallampalli, Lakshmidevipeta and Rajupeta as new mandals, apart from setting up new fire stations in Eturnagaram and Kothaguda mandals.

With the re-opening of Ballarpur Industries Limited (BILT) pulp factory in Kamalapur of Mangapet mandal, several unemployed youths will get employment opportunities, she said, adding that the government must take the initiative for reviving the BILT factory as early as possible along with making Eturnagaram into a revenue division.

The MLA also urged the minister to set up an engineering college in Mangapet mandal along with a Sammakka and Saralamma Nursing College at Pasara of Govindaraopet mandal.

Even after announcing Ramappa temple as a World Heritage Site, the development of the temple is lagging, she alleged. New roads in the villages surrounding the temple need to be laid apart from providing all basic facilities, she said.
