Politicians influencing cops at lower levels: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the lower-level state police are being influenced by their political bosses, leaving people to fend for themselves. Bhatti Vikramarka, who walked 957 km to understand the people's problems, criticised police transfers based on political affiliations. He found fault with the filing of cases against Opposition parties and government critics, stating that such actions undermine democracy and may push people towards extrajudicial forces. Bhatti Vikramarka called on the government to take responsibility for the police setup and realise its mistakes.

Bhatti Vikramarka also highlighted the incomplete Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel project, which was intended to provide water for drinking and irrigation.

“This project was started with the aim of providing water for drinking and irrigation by the Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy government. But the BRS government did not care to finish it,” he said.

He criticised the government for not completing the project on priority, resulting in escalating costs and delayed benefits for farmers. He emphasised the need for concerted efforts to finish projects like Pranahita Chevella and SLBC, as their completion could have saved the Rs 42,000 crore spent on Mission Bhagiratha.

Additionally, TPCC senior vice president Mallu Ravi pointed out issues with Dharani, including the improper listing of farmers' lands and the neglect of pending projects like Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu, Bhima, and Koilsagar.
