Karimnagar will turn a tourist hub, says Vinod Kumar
KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar city will transform into a tourist hub in the coming days with different types of developmental works being in progress, said State Planning Commission (SPC) vice-chairman Boinapally Vinod Kumar.
He was inspecting the multipurpose park being established at Telangana Chowk in Karimnagar city on Monday along with municipal commissioner Valluri Kranthi and city mayor Yadagiri Sunil Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Kumar said with funds being released under centre’s Smart City project and by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on behalf of the state government, various works in the city are going on at brisk pace. For example, Jyotiba Phule Park is being established under the Smart City project at a cost of Rs. 5 crore, which would be of great utility to the people.
He announced that a meeting of State Planning Board will be held within a week, wherein he would discuss with board director Aravind Kumar and get Rs. 200–300 crore approved for taking up several other developmental works.
The SPC vice-chairman said at present developmental works worth Rs.196 crore are in progress within the Karimnagar city under the Smart City project. People are also happy with the amount of development going on, he stated.
Vinod Kumar said the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation has submitted a proposal for establishing a huge statue of former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao’s in the multipurpose park, along with a huge flag post for hoisting the tricolour.
The heritage school building is also being renovated to restore it to its past glory. The work has been taken up by Hyderabad-based architecture experts. A library and science museum will also be established in the heritage school building, he said.
Deputy mayor Challa Swarupa Rani, corporators Gande Madhavi and Vala Ramana Rao, superintending engineer Krishna Rao, and executive engineer Raman were among those present.
