Karnataka: Tussle for Power, bros at war

The JD(S) list is expected to be sent to Raj Bhavan late Thursday night or early on Friday morning.

Bengaluru: The all important Power ministry which the Congress gave up to the JD(S), is at the centre of a huge tug of war between Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who wants to keep it, as does his elder brother H D Revanna, who wants it too, delaying the allocation of portfolios. Irked by the demand, HDK delayed going to Padmanabhnagar, where he was scheduled to hold a final meeting with his father and party patriarch Mr Deve Gowda.

The meeting was scheduled at around 5 pm, but HDK stayed back in Hotel West End till 9 pm. Sources said that Mr Gowda was upset with Mr Revanna, who was insistent on having the portfolio for at least one month. Mr Gowda is reported to have reassured HDK that the issue would be taken care of.

The Congress meanwhile has sent its list of ministry allocation to HDK on Thursday morning but will now have to wait for the JD(S) to resolve the differences between two rival power centres before a final cabinet list is announced. The JD(S) list is expected to be sent to Raj Bhavan late Thursday night or early on Friday morning. Sources said that HDK was planning to hold a press meet on Friday morning, after the notification is issued.
