M Kodandaram's rant' continues to rile all anti-TRS comments
Hyderabad: Even as the political storm over his criticism of the two-year TRS rule continued on Tuesday, TJAC chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram convened the outfit’s steering committee meeting for Wednesday.
On Tuesday, home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy lashed out the TJAC chief, accusing him of making “mindless comments” against the TRS Government, while the Congress, Telugu Desam, BJP and OU JAC backed Prof. Kodandaram and criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his Cabinet.
“I will react to the ministers’ comments after the TJAC steering committee meets tomorrow. I did make certain comments at a seminar organised by the Vidya Vanthula Vedika in Hyderabad on the two-year rule of the TRS government. There have been a lot of reactions on my comment. My speech is on YouTube. I can only say we are all part of JAC. When such issues crop up we sit and discuss,” Prof. Kodandaram said.
He asserted that the TJAC would continue to take up public issues and stand by the people. “Its next course of action will be announced after the steering committee meeting,” he said.
Meanwhile, OU JAC leaders D. Yellanna, Mandula Bhaskar and Durgam Bhaskar said there was a threat to Prof. Kodandaram’s life and the Centre should provide him security.
Earlier, the home minister led the TRS charge against the professor for the second day, asking him whether he was unaware of the CM toiling day and night for welfare of SC, ST, BCs and minorities and other sections, implementing various welfare and developmental schemes.
“We are providing the best relief and rehabilitation package for land acquisition in the country. We will not back down. We will make Bangaru Telangana,” Mr Narasimha Reddy said.
However, Congress spokesperson D. Shravan and Dayakar Rao, MP V. Hanumantha Rao, MLA Jeevan Reddy, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, TD MLA Revanth Reddy and others backed the TJAC chairman.
“Prof Kodandaram is like ‘Telangana Gandhi’ who led the T-movement. TRS attack is uncalled for. Is it not true that the government has failed to provide three acres of land to Dalits? It failed to implement the KG-to-PG scheme and other promises. Why are KCR and his team shaken by Prof Kodandaram comments,” Dr Shravan asked.
