Karnataka speaker Kagodu: Anupama can't behave like this

Thimmappa said that he would have no objection if a member wanted to bring it up for discussion.

Bengaluru: Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kagodu Thimmappa came down hard on Kudligi Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy for her decision to resign from her job due to the alleged pressure from the liquor lobby.

“What she did is not right. And even worse, she is posting her comments on social media and has the audacity to call the Siddaramaiah government a ‘Rum government’. It violates the KCS Act and the government, if it has the courage, should take action against her. She is a senior officer and cannot behave like this. She should have raised the matter in an appropriate forum,” Mr. Thimmappa he contended.

Asked if the issue would be raised in the coming Assembly session, Mr Thimmappa said that he would have no objection if a member wanted to bring it up for discussion.

Mr Thimmappa revealed that the monsoon session of the legislature would be held in Bengaluru and not in Belagavi. While it could begin on July 4, a final decision on this would be taken at the next cabinet meeting.
