Fresh probe soon into death of Sadiq Basha: Edappadi K Palaniswami

Slams DMK prez for making baseless charges.

Ottapidaram: The Tamil Nadu government would initiate a fresh probe into the mysterious death of Sadiq Basha, a close associate of former union minister of DMK, A Raja, said Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami during his by-election campaign at Ottapidaram on Tuesday.

Coming down heavily on the DMK president for raking up baseless allegations against him and on his cabinet colleagues, Palaniswami said that he had to clarify a new allegation being raised by Stalin on the Perambalur, AIADMK MLA, R Thamizhselvan based on a complaint made by an advocate, one Sri Arul, last month.

Unaware of the fact that the sexual harassment allegation made against the Perambalur AIADMK MLA was proved false and the person who made the false complaint along with his colleague, Kalaiyarasi was arrested, Chief Minister said that the DMK president continued to speak on the issue, which is legally wrong.

Further charging Stalin with making it an issue despite being proved false as the Perambalur AIADMK MLA was a Dalit, he said that Tamizhselvan would file a case against the DMK president soon.

Referring to the petition made by S Rehabanu to the President recently seeking a fresh probe into the mysterious death of her husband, Sadiq Basha, a close associate of former union minister A Raja, he said that his government, after the election would initiate a fresh probe into Sadiq Basha's death.

"If due complaints are made by concerned persons, the government is ready to reinvestigate the cases relating to the deaths of two more close associates of Stalin and DMK--Annanagar Ramesh and former DMK women's wing functionary, Palmalar," added Edappadi Palaniswami.
