Anjaneyulu gets BSF order sending him back to AP

Premature repatriation means the IPS officer is being repatriated before the completion of the full deputation tenure.

Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu, presently posted as IG, Border Security Force (BSF), is all set to return to Andhra Pradesh cadre after the BSF issued the formal repatriation order on Tuesday.

On the request of Mr Anjaneyulu, a 1992 batch IPS officer, the Union home ministry had already iss-ued a premature repatriation order on May 3 itself — which indicated the urgency in returning to AP.

This newspaper had repo-rted how a few bureaucrats from AP cadre, including P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, who are on Central deputation, are keen on coming back if YSR Congress comes to power in AP.

“The premature repatriation order was already issued by the MHA on May 3. Today, his formal repatriation order from the BSF was issued and his charge relinquishment is awaited,’’ top sources told Deccan Chronicle.

Premature repatriation means the IPS officer is being repatriated before the completion of the full deputation tenure. Every deputation has a fixed tenure in terms of duration and if any officer intending to get back to the parent cadre before completion of the prescribed tenure, can request for premature repatriation. Mr Anjaneyulu still had a few months left for the completion of his central deputation but has now cut it short.

Sources said that premature repatriation is normally on the request of the officer or on administrative (disciplinary) grounds. In the case of Anjaneyulu, it was done on his request.

Having worked as DIG, intelligence and Vijaya-wada police chief in united Andhra Pradesh when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister, Anjaneyulu left for central deputation in April 2015 and joined the BSF and after some time was posted in Siliguri.

In 2017, officers in his batch were promoted to the rank of Additional DGPs and as per rules, any officer can opt to return to the parent cadre to avail the benefits of promotion.

The buzz in the corridors of power is that Mr Anjan-eyulu could well become the “eyes and ears” of Mr Reddy, as he could be appo-inted as intelligence chief if the YSRC wins AP polls.
