Shobha Karandlaje: People more angry with Siddu than Congress

Siddaramaiah has realised the Congress will not return to power and is therefore desperately making personal attacks on BJP leaders.

Bengaluru: Calling him arrogant and accusing him of playing divisive politics, BJP general secretary, Shobha Karandlaje claimed here on Monday that people were more angry with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah than the Congress party for failing to deliver over the last five years.

Participating in a Meet the Press programme being organised by the Press Club of Bangalore and Bangalore Reporters' Guild, she said Mr Siddaramaiah was the first Chief Minister of Karnataka to divide people on caste and religious lines and create a conflict among them.

“Siddaramaiah has realised the Congress will not return to power and is therefore desperately making personal attacks on BJP leaders. He left Varuna for Chamundeshwari only to realise that he would be defeated there and opted for Badami too. He had also kept the option of Koppal open and cancelled it at the last minute. That shows how nervous he is about the outcome of this election,” she said.

Referring to a photograph of Mr Siddaramiah with QNeT promoter, Vijay Eshwar in China way back in 2013, Ms Shobha demanded that Mr Siddaramaiah should come clean on the watch he had received from him.

“There is a general perception that the Hublot watch was given to Mr Siddaramaiah by Mr Eshwar. Mr Siddaramaiah behaved very suspiciously over the Hubolt issue and gave it to the state treasury. In 2013, the UPA government was in power and so its links with Mr Eshwar must be investigated,” she demanded. Asked about the PM skipping a visit tot the Udupi temple, Ms Shobha said the proposal was sent to the PM’s protocol, but it did not clear it.
