Think about Modi’s contributions before deciding whom to vote: HD Kumaraswamy

Udupi: Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy asked people to think seriously about the contributions of the PM before deciding whom to vote for.

“If people think Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided excellent administration, they can vote for him but before that, they should think about his contributions to the country,” Kumaraswamy said.

“Demonetisation has completely crippled the economy of the country due to which he had to borrow 4.52 trillion crore. GST too is a complete failure. People are facing trouble because of these measures. They should think twice before voting,” he said.

He also attacked BJP candidates for asking for votes in Modi's name. “The BJP’s Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje are asking people to see Modi’s face and vote. Modi has a makeup man with him due to which his face glows all the time. We on the other hand have a bath in the morning and toil under the sun throughout the day due to which our faces get dark,” Kumaraswamy mocked.

He expressed confidence that the coalition would win more than 20 seats in Karnataka. “Yedyurappa (state BJP president) claims he will win 28 seats. Probably that is the number of seats which the BJP will win in the whole of South India,” he ridiculed.

Commenting on Minister G.T. Deve Gowda’s statement that Modi would be the next Prime Minister, Kumaraswamy said that it could be his analysis. “I do not feel Modi will become Prime Minister again,” he said. He blamed the BJP for attacking him despite he having given good administration. “The BJP has not allowed me to work in peace in the last nine months. But I know I have given good administration. Of the 11,170 crore loan waiver, already Rs 6,500 crore has been released of which Rs 80 crore is for the coastal region. Udupi has been provided Rs 1,070 crore under various project. There has not been even one riot in the coastal region after I came to power,” he said. “The country has seen many PMs. Is Modi the only strong PM? Did not Vajpayee provide security to the country? Wasn’t the country secure till Modi came to power? What is Modi’s contribution to the coastal region?” he said. “Were there any bomb blasts when Deve Gowdaji was Prime Minister? There was no Indo-Pak conflict when he was PM,” the CM added.
