Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India on Sunday directed all political parties not to publish any last-minute advertisements without taking permission of the State Election Commissions.

Following the directions of ECI, the Telangana State Election Commission has asked all political parties and other organisations to desist from publishing any advertisement in print media on April 10 and 11 without obtaining permission from the certification committee.

Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar said there were instances when political parties gave advertisements in print media provoking, misleading and creating enmity among the voters on last days of election.

He said that in order prevent such instances, the Election Commission of India has issued orders making it mandatory for parties to take permission from the certification committee. Mr Kumar said the media certification committees at the state and district levels were alerted to inform political parties about the ECI's instructions.
