Ringside Bytes: Siddu misusing govt machinery, says HD Kumaraswamy
Janata Dal (S) state chief H.D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of misusing government machinery to ensure he wins from Chamundeshwari assembly constituency in the coming poll.
Claiming that he had acquired intelligence reports about his chances of victory from the constituency even after the elections were declared, Mr Kumaraswamy said this was ample proof of misuse of government machinery and his party had already complained about it to the Election Commission(EC).
He also alleged that the Chief Minister’s close aide and advisor to Home Minister, Kempaiah was helping him in his “ illegal activities,” and warned he would also file a complaint with the EC against the officials, who were helping the ruling Congress misuse power for the elections.
The JD(S) leader , who was speaking to reporters in Hubballi, maintained his intention was not to defeat anyone in Chamundeshwari, but to ensure the victory of his party from the constituency and asserted it was ready to take on the CM in Badami , Bagalkot district too if need be. “We will field a suitable candidate in this constituency too if he decides to contest from here,” he declared .
Expressing confidence that his party would win 75 seats in old Mysore region and 45 in North Karnataka, he added, “I will not get scared by the Chief Minister’s hollow threats. I will not become kingmaker, but the king myself. I am confident our party will win over 113 seats in the Assembly elections.”
Mr Kumaraswamy revealed BSP leader Mayawati would campaign for his party.
