Fake news! Intel report asking Siddaramaiah to avoid Chamundeshwari seat
BENGALURU: The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on Saturday filed a complaint at the Ulsoor Gate police station against unknown people after a fake intelligence report, advising Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not to contest from Mysuru's Chamundeshwari constituency went viral on social media platforms.
The CMO has asked the police to conduct a probe and bring the culprits to book for misusing the intelligence department's name.
The report dated April 5, 2018, which is in English, is fake on many grounds. The address of the intelligence office, to begin with, is wrong and has different areas mentioned. The report bears the signature of A.M. Prasad and his designation is mentioned as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), while he is is the Director General of Police.

Earlier on Saturday, the CMO clarified, saying "the Intelligence department has not given any such report. The report is false and fabricated. The ADGP post in the Intelligence department is lying vacant. Moreover, the Intelligence reports are usually in Kannada, not English.”
What's written in the report?
The report 'Review of Assembly Constituencies by SIB Political Desk' advises the CM not to contest the ensuing Assembly election from the Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysuru, saying, “It’s not a viable option as there is a strong caste-based mobilisation of the Vokkaliga community being carried out by G.T. Devegowda and other local leaders of JDS).”
The report recommends the CM to contest from Varuna, Basavakalyan, Gangavati, Mysuru, Shanthinagar, Bidar, Koppal or Bengaluru assembly constituencies.
