CPM rebuts its own leaders: Ramesh Chennithala

Mr Chennithala pointed out that Mr Rajendran was on the forefront of criticism on the home department under this government.

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM secretariat statement justifying police action against Mahija was a reply to senior party leaders V.S. Achuthanandan and M.A. Baby and CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran who criticised the action, and the opposition parties, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said. Mr Chennithala told reporters here on Friday that it was for the CPM to make it clear whether Mr Achuthanandan, Mr Baby and Mr Rajendran were acting against the government. “The CPM should make it clear whether the police policy of the LDF justified dragging of a mother who lost her child through the road,” Mr Chennithala said.

“How could the government act so cruelty against a family who were CPM supporters? The party was trying to hide its embarrassment through the justification of the police as the whole state had come in support of the family.” Mr Chennithala pointed out that Mr Rajendran was on the forefront of criticism on the home department under this government. “Why doesn’t the CPI demand that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan drop the home portfolio,” he asked.
