Chennai: Describing the I-T raids on his house and those of relatives as an attempt by the BJP government to stall the victory of AIADMK (Amma) in RK Nagar bypoll, health minister C. Vijayabaskar on Friday said the victory of his party candidate T.T.V. Dhinakaran could not be stopped.
"The BJP government is threatening us, but we will not be cowed down by such threats", he told reporters outside his residence. He also alleged that I-T officials, who arrived at around 4 am, threatened him and his family, besides preventing his daughter from going to school. "But, they were not able to obtain even Rs 10,000 from my house," he asserted.
The minister said he was not able to attend a function in Delhi where the state's health ministry is receiving an award from President Pranab Mukherjee on behalf of Telemedicine Society of India at the WHO summit. "When I said the almirah key is with my personal assistant, they started breaking it without waiting for his arrival."
"They raided Samathuva Makkal Katchi leader R.Sarathkumar who supported us. But, do they have the guts to raid the house of TMC leader G.K. Vasan who is supporting Panneerselvam faction?"
Sarath: Political vendetta
Sarathkumar said the I-T officials who came around 5.45 am, knocked at the door as if they would break it. "When I came out, I said I have no objections to the raids. But, the I-T officials did not see or get anything they wanted. The I-T raids were conducted a day after my support to Dhinakaran. This shows that there is a conspiracy and political vendetta behind the raids. Besides, they also raided the RADAN TV office, but they did not get anything."

Chennai: AIADMK (Amma) candidate Dhinakaran, who did not mince his words, said the BJP is afraid that he would win the RK Nagar bypoll and so it is resorting to such a move. Hitting back at BJP state president Tamilisai Soundarajarn for her comments that the raids were conducted with sufficient documentary evidence, Dhinakaran asked "How did Tamilisai know that there is sufficient documentary evidence?"
