Sreesanth enters crease despite Tharoor googly

The BJP camp is upbeat about winning the 'star' seat.

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP’s candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram assembly constituency S. Sreesanth feels the heat of campaigning after Sashi Tharoor, MP, has snubbed him saying the former cricketer will create no flutter in the constituency. However the BJP camp is upbeat about winning the 'star' seat and they feel that as long as they are able to garner votes in the coastal areas, it would be easy for them.

After much expectation, Mr Sreesanth kicked off his campaign on Wednesday at a time the BJP camp remained clueless about his long absence from campaigning after his candidature was announced more than two weeks ago.

While Mr Sreesanth was having his road show at Manacaud late on Wednesday night, he and his entourage bumped in to Mr. Tharoor’s car when he was on his way to attend a mandalam committee meeting at Kovalam.

“Mr Sreesanth took advantage of the media glare and hugged Mr. Tharoor which was lapped up by the lensmen,” said a Congress leader. “In fact not many know who is Mr Sreesanth and when he visited Palayam market seeking votes, majority of the women vendors were in the dark about his identity. Our advantage is that sitting Congress MLA V. S. Sivakumar has brought in lots of development works in the coastal areas which the BJP will never get.”
