RSP man throws in the towel

The former AAP leader K.M. Noordeen was expected to contest from Kaipamangalam.

THRISSUR: Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Alpha Palliative Care chair K. M. Noordeen, who earlier gave his nod to be the RSP candidate in Kaipamangalam here, bowed out of the contest on Thursday. Mr Noordeen said he had on Tuesday told the RSP leaders that he was willing to contest on the party symbol.

But Alpha volunteers were upset at him becoming a part of an organised political party. “I took the decision to contest with the view that it would provide an opportunity to influence public health policymaking as a legislator” he told DC.
"But the volunteers from India and abroad who contributes to our palliative care units and hospitals in Kerala advised me against it considering the way in which the system functions. They said an MLA could not do much".

A native of Kaipamangalam, he was earlier into manufacturing of specialised engineering rubber products in the UAE. He had in December 2015 resigned from AAP. He said the AAP had failed to become a mass movement in Kerala and was upset with the way it functioned in the state. RSP leader N.K. Premachandran is expected to arrive soon here to decide on party’s next move.
