Mukesh starts as protests recede
KOLLAM: The CPM cadre’s opposition to the party decision to field film actor Mukesh in the Kollam constituency leaving behind veteran leader P.K. Gurudasan has slowly started receding with the party candidate’s campaigning picked up momentum. Only some pockets continue to persist with their opposition.
Mukesh started electioneering after seeking the blessings of Mr Gurudasan at the CPM district committee office in Polayathodu. He discounted the charge that his was a payment seat pointing out that there was no such charge when he was named chairman of the Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Akademi. He said his was a Communist family, and there was little point in checking whether it was a CPI or a CPM family.
However, a group of party workers is silently protesting against Mukesh’s candidature in spite of the strict instruction by the party leadership. The party is trying to convince the group that the victory of the candidate is more important than the selection of candidate.
