He urged them to take the opinions of people on developmental activities and welfare schemes

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed his party legislators to remain in the field for the next two years and mingle with the public, especially in their respective constituencies.

He said during a state cabinet meeting at Velagapudi on Monday, that he would convene a special meeting with MLAs. He urged them to take the opinions of people on developmental activities and welfare schemes.

The cabinet mourned the death of minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy and paid tributes to him.

It was resolved that the government would give surety to AP Maritime Board for availing loans to the tune of Rs 8741 crore for construction of Ramayapatnam, Bhavanapadu and Machilipatnam ports. Administrative sanction was given for construction of fishing harbours at Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam and Uppada against an estimated cost of Rs 1,234 crore.

Students can study Urdu as a second language subject and it was resolved to enhance the retirement age of government employees to 62 years from the present 60. The bill will be tabled in the ongoing session of the AP Legislature.

The cabinet cleared the proposal to appoint international archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam as deputy collector and a government job to Indian deaf tennis team captain Shaik Jafreen, who hails from Kurnool. It also agreed to have eight regular and four outsourcing posts in the Wakf tribunal.

The Cabinet approved the agreement between Indigo and AP Airports Development Corporation Limited for running flight services (thrice in a week) from Bangalore - Kadapa and Visakhapatnam – Kadapa from March 27.
