Telengana CPM dares BJP RSS to stop Kerala CM

Dares RSS to prevent Pinarayi Vijayan from attending social justice meet.

Thiruvananthapuram: Telengana CPM state committee has dared BJP RSS to stop Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan from attending the “Social Justice Meet” in Hyderabad on March 19.

The party said it would counter the RSS-BJP threat by rallying people in large numbers. Social justice meeting is the culmination of the padayathra that began five months ago, covering more than 4000 km across the length and breadth of the state.

Pinarayi is the chief guest at the public meeting to be held at Nizam College Grounds in Hyderabad, which is expected to be attended by over 2 lakh people.

CPM's response came in the wake of BJP MLA Raja Singh's threat to disrupt the meeting.

Sangh Parivar affiliated organisations had also organised a meeting in Hyderabad last week where Telengana BJP state president K Laxman held Pinarayi responsible for the killings of RSS men in Kerala.

However, CPM leadership is undeterred by their threats. “Our padyathra focused mainly on issues of land, employment for dalits, tribals, backward classes and minorities. TRS government promised 3 acres of land to each SC/ST family besides 2 lakh jobs. But these promises have not been fulfilled. While we are for empowerment of marginalised sections, the BJP-RSS is trying to divert the attention,” said CPM sate secretariat member B Venkat.

He said through the padayathra the party tried to highlight the pathetic condition of these sections. Dalits form 17 per cent and Tribals 10 per cent of the state’s population but their land holding was just 3 per cent and 2.5 per cent respectively. “Is the BJP trying to bail out the TRS government by opposing our campaign? the CPM leader asked.

Meanwhile, CPM leaders said that Telengana government had given permission for Pinarayi’s public meeting and also assured all security arrangement.

After Bhopal, Delhi, Mangalore and now Hyderabad, the Sangh Parivar seems to be firm on continuing its protest against Pinarayi across the country.
