Pratibimba: An image makeover for Siddaramaiah?

Ahead of 2018 poll, web-based platform will project Cong govt's achievements which people can track.

Bengaluru: With just a little more than a year to go for elections to the Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, battling charges of corruption and weighed down by a lack-luster administration, launched ‘Pratibimba’, a comprehensive web-based platform to showcase the government's programmes and achievements which can be tracked by people, on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media after launching ‘Pratibimba,’ developed as the Chief Minister’s dash board, Mr Siddaramaiah said it was part of his government’s commitment to be accountable and transparent.

“Pratibimba will help people across the state and the country to get a detailed information regarding the steps taken by us in fulfilling our promise of transparent, responsible and people-friendly government. This will be a reflection of how much we have walked the talk by showcasing efforts made by us in meeting people's aspiration with our achievements. We are accountable to the people of Karnataka as it is they who voted us to form the government, and this is one of the ways of showing our accountability,” he said adding it would provide information in English and Kannada on flagship schemes, key programmes and projects to people at the click of a button.

The Chief Minister said that the dash board’s tools will help report, track and measure departmental performance on programmes, projects and promises made by the government as part of an effort to fulfill its commitment of providing inclusive governance. Information on the dash board would be updated on 10th of every month in order to enable citizens to check performance and facilitate effective governance via modules to track actions taken on a wide array of issues ranging from the budget, to election manifesto or routine issues.

Mr Siddaramaiah said Karnataka is the second state after Andhra Pradesh to launch such a dash board. Official sources said that 'Pratibimba' has been envisioned with the intention to expand, diversify and include many other aspects like evaluation of district level performance, integration of many solutions on a single dashboard platform and feedback mechanism for citizens.
