TN will get more schemes, will be industralised if BJP is elected: Pon Radhakrishnan
Chennai: The BJP will industrialise and make Tamil Nadu an economic giant, if his party is voted to power in this Assembly election, Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan has said. The state will get more schemes, infrastructure and will be industralised.
“India is developing rapidly and if this has to reach Tamil Nadu, then BJP should be elected to power,” the minister said. Speaking to this correspondent Radhakrishnan said development is one of the major poll planks during this election and the BJP would unveil appropriate schemes to promote massive development.
“We will ensure the extension of the economic corridor upto Kanyakumari from Kolkata via Chennai besides set into motion infrastructure works envisaging the development of coastal areas, ports, religious and tourist destinations under the Bharat Mala project. The state will prosper only if the good work of the Narendra Modi government permeates to the State,” he added.
Asked about the proposal to establish a port at Colachel in the southern district of Kanyakumari in the State, the BJP senior said the process of DPR is being readied. “Simultaneously, we are planning to develop the ports at Cuddalore and Tuticorin. Also, impetus would be given to develop inland waterways particularly from Buckingham Canal in Chennai upto to the coastal town of Marakanam (in Villupuram district),” Radhakrishnan said.
On the Tamil Nadu Marine Fishing Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2016, passed recently by the State Assembly, to encourage deep-sea fishing, Radhakrishnan agreed that deep-sea fishing was the only solution to prevent the frequent arrests of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy. “We fully support deep-sea fishing. The Centre is willing to extend all possible assistance in this regard,” the minister added.
