Former minister and TDP MLC Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu dies after dengue attack

He was admitted to a super-speciality hospital in Hyderabad on Monday after he complained of fever.

VIJAYAWADA: Former minister and TD MLC Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu died due to dengue and related health complications at a hospital in the early hours of Wednesday in Hyderabad.

He was admitted to a super-speciality hospital in Hyderabad on Monday after he complained of fever.

“He was diagnosed with dengue shock syndrome (along) with multi-organ failure. Inspite of full resuscitation, he could not be revived and declared dead at 2.50 am today,” a medical bulletin issued by the hospital said on Wednesday.

The founding member of the Telugu Desam was a six-times MLA from Puttur. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had cancelled his Wed-nesday’s schedule and left for Muddukrishna-ma Naidu’s native place — Venkatapuram village in Ramachand-rapuram mandal of Chittoor district.

Muddukrishnama Naidu has served as Minister in N.T. Rama Rao’s Cabinets in 1984, 1987 and 1994 and held the education and forest portfolios.

After Rama Rao’s death, Gali Muddukris-hnama Naidu remai-ned in the NTR TDP floated by Rama Rao’s wife Lakshmi Parvathi.

In 2004, he joined the Congress and was elected to the state assembly on a Congress ticket.

He later came back to the TD in 2008. In 2009, he was elected from Nagari Assembly segment. He, however, lost 2014 elections from the same constituency aga-inst R.K. Roja of YSR Congress.

He was subsequently made a member of the Legislative Council. He was silent after he was ignored by Chief Minister Naidu during the Cabinet expansion in 2017.
