Seat Allocation for JDS and BJP in Karnataka LS Polls Soon, Says H.D. Kumaraswamy

BENGALURU: The list of seats to be contested by the nominees of Janata Dal Secular and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka will be released in a couple of days, announced the State president of Janata Dal Secular and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

He conducted a meeting with his party leaders to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and emphasized that party workers from both parties should establish proper coordination to ensure the success of party nominees in the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Kumaraswamy stated, "It is essential to develop understanding among the party workers of JDS and BJP in all the Lok Sabha seats."

Reflecting on the meeting between JDS supremo and former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kumaraswamy described it as meaningful and noted that it has caused ripples in the Congress party circles. He appealed to leaders and party workers to set aside 'ego' and collaborate for the success of the nominees.

A senior leader from the party, present at the meeting, informed Deccan Chronicle that JDS has requested BJP to allocate approximately four Lok Sabha seats in the Old Mysuru region, with BJP likely to concede Hassan and Mandya Lok Sabha seats. Both Hassan and Mandya Lok Sabha seats are considered strongholds of JDS.

Simultaneously, JDS leaders are putting pressure on their party to secure Vijayapura, Raichur, and Koppal Lok Sabha seats in North Karnataka, and they are also seeking Tumakuru and Chikkaballapura Lok Sabha seats for JDS to contest, the leader added.
