TRS watches Chandrababu Naidu and PM Modi meet

However, we may insist on the Kazipet railway division and establishment of a coach factory.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti says it has no issues with the Central government, but will be watching the outcome of the meeting between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is to take place sometime next week.

That there is some momentum on the division of the High Court among the two states is a satisfying development, said TRS Lok Sabha Leader A.P. Jitender Reddy on Sunday. “As far as Railway projects are concerned, as per the present policy if the state government offers 50 per cent of the capital cost, the Railway Board automatically accepts it. However, we may insist on the Kazipet railway division and establishment of a coach factory. With regard to other projects, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is capable of building everything with state-owned resources.”

Referring to the long-ending demand to increase Assembly seats and fresh delimitation, Mr Reddy said, “What can we do when they (the BJP) are not interested in doing it for political reasons? They think they won’t get any benefit.”

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, senior TRS MP B. Vinod Kumar said, “We will look at the outcome of Naidu’s meeting with the Prime Minister. If AP is going to get fresh delimitation of Assembly seats, we will also get the same, as everything is part of the AP Reorganisation Act. On our own we won't try for it.”

He also said that Mr Chandrasekhar Rao does not care whether there is an increase in the number of seats in the Assembly seats or not; he is going ahead with his selection of candidates for 119 seats.

However, Mr Kumar added, “As per the Supreme Court order, and as per the Constitutional Amendment, every Assembly should have minimum 40 seats. Taking that into account, there is already a proposal with the Union home ministry to increase seats in the Sikkim Assembly from the existing 32 to 40. We are not sure whether the Centre is going to include fresh delimitation for TS and AP states along with that.”
