MK Stalin advises cadres against falling at his feet

It is an act against DMK's self-respect principles'.

Chennai: DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Saturday said the DMK is the political wing of the Dravidian movement, which fought for equality and asked party cadre not to fall at his feet, which is an act against self-respect principles.
In his letter in party organ Murasoli, he said some of the cadres are trying to fall at his feet which is an embarrassment to him. Stalin said he did not like such an act and had stopped such attempts by partymen, besides pulling them up affectionately.

However, everyday some of the cadres try to fall at his feet and others too are trying to imitate the same. Making it clear that he did not approve of the act, Stalin also said it is an act against the movement, which has its roots in self-respect principles.

Stressing that all human beings are equal, he said the DMK is the political wing of the Dravidian movement, which fought for equality. The movement had insisted that no one should be in a situation of falling at another's feet and succeeded in its objective.

He pointed out that it was DMK leader M. Karunanidhi who abolished the practice of hand-pulled rickshaws and asserted that he is one among the cadre.
“It is a request with a view to uphold social justice, follow self-respect principles without forgetting the pride of our language and race. It is the culture of Tamils to fall at the feet of mother and father since they work hard to create a space for us in society. We have a long journey to protect the honour of Tamils and self-respect and uphold social justice”.

The cadre should use the Tamil word 'Vanakkam' with a smile, he said and added that it would be sufficient. The state had been ruined by those who bend themselves, crawled and bowed at feet and such a path is not needed for the DMK, Stalin said and added “We will stand upright to make Tamil Nadu stand upright”.
