AP government employees on stir seeking PRC, old pension

AP govt employees started phase-wise agitations all over the state demanding fulfilment of 11 PRC and resolution of 70 long-pending issues

VIJAYAWADA: The AP government employees started phase-wise agitations on Tuesday all over the state demanding fulfilment of 11 PRC and resolution of 70 long-pending issues.

The employees, wearing black badges, attended duties and staged protests airing slogans to fulfil their demands.

The employees, including women in large numbers in every government office, staged demonstrations showing placards and wearing black badges during the lunch break in protest against the government, and affirmed that they would continue the protests till December 10.

The government employees said their primary demands were the release of the 11th PRC, cancellation of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and reimplementation of Old Pension Scheme (OPS), 55 per cent fitment, the release of seven pending DAs, regularise contract employees and other resolving of other long pending issues.

APJAC chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu said that the government was doing injustice to the government employees by ignoring their long-pending demands and that the government's adamant attitude has forced the employees to agitate.

He said because talks with government officials had failed, the employees had to protest. He, however, said that they do not want to cause inconvenience to the public and appealed to the state government to fulfil their justifiable demands immediately.

He also said that there was no response from the officials on the reason for the delay in the PRC.

Venkateswarlu said the government was least bothered about the demands of employees and hoped that the issues would be resolved in view of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assurance.

In Visakhapatnam, APNGOs state president and JAC chairman Bandi Srinivas Rao said there was no positive response from the government on their demand even after they met the chief secretary several times.

Though government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the PRC will be released by the end of October, he said there was no progress till now. "We don't understand why the government was trying to hide the PRC report," he said.

Srinivas Rao said they were demanding 50 per cent fitment and 30 per cent HRA in major cities, and enhancement of the retirement age for class IV employees to 62 years.
