MP: Scindia says no greed for CM post', credits Shivraj for development of MP

Scindia said that he has the only goal in his life to work for the people and improve their conditions

Bhopal: Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that he has no greed for chief minister’s post.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of his campaigning in Gwalior-Chambal in Madhya Pradesh late on Sunday, Mr Scindia said that he has the only goal in his life to work for the people and improve their conditions.

Mr Scindia said that he was never after power.

He gave credit to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the transformation of Madhya Pradesh from a ‘Bimaru’ (laggard) state to one of the developed states in the country.

Addressing a series of public meetings in Datia, Bhander, Lahar and Mehegaon under Gwalior-Chambal region on Monday, he said that the previous Kamal Nath government had stopped 51 social and developmental schemes, introduced by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his earlier terms.

He said that the Congress after coming to power in Madhya Pradesh in 2018 assembly elections had failed to fulfil its promises.

The state BJP government has waived off interests on crop loans of farmers and provided Rs 12,000 each annually to the farmers.

“Had the Kamal Nath government not collapsed, the farmers would not have availed the benefits”, he said.

Mr Scindia cautioned the people, saying that the Congress, if voted to power in the November 17 assembly elections in the state, would stop the ‘Laldi Behna’ scheme, launched by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

The women beneficiaries have been provided financial assistance of Rs 1,250 per month under the scheme.

The scheme, billed to be a game changer for BJP in the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, has covered around 1.36 crore women in the state.
