Shabbir Ali quizzes Telangana government on road funds

Speaking during Question Hour, he said even today the road to the Assembly from Jubilee Hills had potholes and garbage.

Hyderabad: Mr Shabbir Ali, leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, on Monday said the government had failed to spend the promised funds on the city.

He asked minister K.T. Rama Rao, “Where has the Rs 1,000 crore, promised to bring improvements in the city within 100 days. gone? What happened to your commitment to make the city a global city.”

Speaking during Question Hour, he said even today the road to the Assembly from Jubilee Hills had potholes and garbage. The 30-minute journey was now taking more than 90 minutes. The recent rains had washed out many roads.

Mr Rama Rao retorted, telling Mr Shabbir Ali, “You are the leader of the Opposition and have rich political experience and belong to a party that has more than a 100-year history.”

“You should have the patience to listen to me,” he added.

He said the government was taking all steps to provide funds to improve the conditions in the city, and was successful in implementing certain schemes.
