Kamareddy: Senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir said that the party would complain to the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the ‘misuse’ of public money by BRS leaders.
He alleged that IT minister K.T. Rama Rao had used a helicopter to attend a party meeting in Kamareddy, which is just 100 km away from the state capital Hyderabad, on Saturday instead of using the roadway.
He questioned why Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family members Rama Rao, Kavitha and Harish Rao used helicopters for party public meetings on the pretext of government programmes. He asked where they were getting funds from for using the chopper.
Speaking to the reporters in Kamareddy on Saturday, Shabbir Ali said minister Rama Rao was spewing venom against the Congress and himself. Congress party provided political life to K. Chandrashekar Rao, who was initially living as an agent of Gulf migrants, he said.
He said that it was the then chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and himself as a power minister who strengthened the power supply in the state.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao promised to complete the Yadadri power plant within 18 months. But, he could not do it for the last 9 years, he criticised. National Power Grid connection from north to south and the infrastructure provided by the then Congress government paved the way for 24-hour power supply in the state, he said. Unable to produce as per the requirement, the BRS government was purchasing the power from other states, he noted.
Refuting the allegations by Rama Rao, Shabbir Ali said that the minister should go through the facts of politics in the state, he suggested.
Even before the arrival of KCR to Kamareddy constituency, atrocities of BRS leaders increased, alleged the Congress leader, adding, that the people would vote out KCR in Kamareddy.
