BSP, BJP leaders verbal spat at government programme in Amroha

BSP MP Danish Ali and BJP MLC Hari Singh Dhillon had a verbal spat at an official event at Amroha in Uttar Pradesh this morning reportedly after BJP workers raised slogans praising their party.

Even as Dhillon began addressing the gathering, amid sloganeering, he was approached by Danish Ali and the duo began having an argument.

After the event, Dhillon told reporters that he had raised the "Bharat Mata ki Jai" slogan which was objected to by Ali. “Ali said that it was a government event. What is wrong with raising Bharat Mata ki Jai slogan at a government event? He shouldn't have done it,” said Dhillon.

However, Ali contended that the entire stage was occupied by BJP workers and other functionaries, and that they raised slogans praising their leaders and the BJP.

"I was invited by the Railway ministry for the programme as the local MP. It was due to my efforts that modernisation works were taken up in two stations from my constituency (Amroha), " Ali told PTI.

Further, he said that the entire stage was taken over by the BJP workers. “A former BJP MP, city district unit presidents and party workers were allowed on to the stage and I spoke about it to the railway officials. All of them began addressing the gathering.”

Ali alleged that they were raising slogans in praise of their leaders and the party. “I objected to this saying that this is a government-organised programme and how can you convert it into a political programme?" the BSP MP said.

The BSP MP said the BJP members were trying to convert a government event into their party event.
