Tamilisai Soundararajan takes pot shots at Stalin over attack on Rahul's car

Dr Tamilisai later addressed the South Chennai district executive meeting, which was attended by a large number of women cadres.

Chennai: BJP State president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan took pot shots at DMK working president M. K. Stalin for flaying the BJP for the attack on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's car in Gujarat and reminded him that his party men had “stoned former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and made her bleed.”

Reacting to Mr Stalin's remark on his official Twitter account refers to the attack on Rahul Gandhi, that the democratic rights of a political party cannot be cowed down by violence, Dr Tamilisai said that it appears Mr Stalin is rather late in condemning the incident. "The Gujarat CM already took prompt action and ensured the arrest of the culprit. It is the DMK, which is delaying in condemning the incident," she said.

Dr. Tamiliai, who had earlier on Sunday inaugurated the Deendayal Upadhyaya centenary medical camp at Chembarambakkam in Tiruvallur near here, retorted to Mr Stalin's charge by tweeting, "DMK men pelted stones at Rahul grandMa Indira to bleed in Madurai wounded her with stones & words does @mkstalin remember?"

Media reports indicated that the Gujarat police arrested Jayesh Darji, secretary of the Banaskantha district youth BJP, in connection with the attack on Mr Rahul Gandhi's SUV on Friday. Mr Gandhi's car was hit with a stone that smashed the rear window and injured an SPG guard while the Congress Vice President sitting in the front seat had escaped unhurt.

Dr Tamilisai later addressed the South Chennai district executive meeting, which was attended by a large number of women cadres. She conveyed her "heartfelt wishes" to party senior M. Venkaiah Naidu, who was elected as Vice President of India on Saturday evening.
